Mr. Teo started out selling Muah Chee as early as 1952. He was commonly seen peddling along the streets of 6th Milestone estate, selling his famous Muah Chee to the residents. Each customer was then offered a complimentary cup of tea to compliment the Muah Chee.
In the early 1960’s, Old Mr. Teo set up a stall in the Simon Road Market and continued selling his popular snack Unfortunately, to make way for the construction of the MRT Circle Line, all vendors in Simon Road market were asked to vacate the premises.
Since then, his son, Mr. Teo, took over the reins of his father’s business and continued dishing out great tasting Muah Chee at Aljunied-Hougang Division. Mr.Teo, 46, skillfully plucked out each muah chee from the dough and coated them with a generous serving of peanuts. Asked what were the ingredients put in his Muah Chee that made it so popular over almost 2 generations, Mr. Teo smiled meekly and said, “That’s traditional Family Secret!”
